February 25, 2007 - DISTRICT TOURNAMENT
Fitch 3rd at 4305
The Lady Falcons earned their way to the State Finals with a 3rd place finish and 8th straight trip to the big show. Their total pinfall was 4305, which consisted of 3 regular games of bowling and followed by 10 baker games. Senior Sara Ventresco led the girls with a high game of 212-571 set. Junior Vicky Lucente follwed with a 199-547 set. Other scoring: Seniors Andrea Wilfong 189-522 and Katie Fekety 198- 502, Sophmores Kelly Mineo and Brittany Jones each rolled a 159 and Freshman Gina Cheff added a 133.

February 17, 2007 - SECTIONAL TOURNAMENT
The Lady Falcons placed 3rd overall.
Sara Ventresco led the girls with a 230-564 set. Katie Fekety followed with a 205-549 and Vicky Lucente added a 202-504 set. Their total pinfall was (after 3 games of regular bowling and 5 baker games) 3368. Good Luck Girls next week at Midway Lanes in Akron.

February 6, 2007
The Lady Falcon Bowlers added another win to their total by winning the Super Bowl Blowout at Holiday Bowl in Struthers. The girls were seeded 2nd after 15 games of baker bowling. The top 5 teams bowled a step ladder final. Fitch bowled Canton McKinley in the semi-finals and defeated them 179 to 170. Fitch then bowled Struthers in the finals and came away with a victory 212 to 189. Sara Ventresco came thru with 2 clutch strikes in the tenth frame to seal the win.

The Fitch High Boys won the Districts Tournament at Bell-wick Bowl this past weekend with a total pinfall of 5035, which consists of 3 regular games and 10 baker games. Jimmy Cheff led the way with a 236-689 set. Other scoring: Donny Ortenzio 216-638 set, Tony Sciarra 238-619 set. Single high games were Adam Ortenzio 242, Justin Cox 234, Marty Sharisky 222, Matt Colaizzi 182 and Anthony Gallo 154. The Boys now advance to the State Finals in Lancaster, Ohio March 4th at Tiki Lanes. Good Luck to the Falcons
 
 

2006 Girls Bowling State Tournament
The Austintown Fitch Bowling Teams recently completed their season. The Girls bowled in Chillicothe,Ohio for the State Championships on March 4th. The Girls came out strong shooting a 1015. Staci Balkan led the way with a 264 game followed by Katie Fekety with a 236. The second game was even better, the Girls shot 1095, their highest game of the year. Katie Fekety rolled a 256 followed by Staci Balkans 248. Sara Ventresco had a 220 and Jessica Hutch a 203. Stafani Lucente added a 168. In game 3 Katie once again led the team with a 222 and Staci a 210. Jessica Hutch had a 195 to aid in the total pin count of 978. The girls set a 3 game total of 3088. It broke the State Record of 2932 set back in 2004. Staci Balkan rolled a 268-248-210 for a 722 set. Staci was crowned State Singles Champion. Katie Fekety shot 236-256-222 for a 714 set. Katie came in 2nd place in the State Singles. Both were named to the 1stTeam All-State. As a team the Girls in the field of 16 ended up 4th in State. They won their first match against Massillon Perry 3-0. In their semi-final best-of-5 they lost to the eventual state champs Fairborn 3-1. Sara Ventresco came in 24th in the singles. The 2005-2006 team members were: Staci Balkan and Jessica Hutch (both seniors). Katie Fekety, Sara Ventresco, Stafani Lucente, Andrea Wilfong, and Melissa O'Conner are juniors and Vicky Lucente is a sophmore. Next years team should be just as strong and they have their sites set on a return trip to the State Finals. Good Luck Girls! - Report by Dino Balkan.
