All Parents of fall athletes must attend an Ohio High School Athletic Association mandated meeting to discuss logistics, legalities, team selection criteria, etc.

This is an important and very educational session. This year's meeting will be Tuesday August 3 at 6:30PM in the high school auditorium. This will also be your opportunity to ask any questions or clarify any issues involving the golf program and you son.   I look forward to meeting you there. - Ed Santor, Boy's Golf Coach

Team Member Updates...

Week of August 2

To all -
I am extremely excited that we have finally reached this point in the year where competition begins. As we all know last year was a very trying time to say the least. I expect great improvement this year. That is why I have stressed competition as well as learning fundamentals during this off-season. I only want boys that have that desire to win. If you are looking for an "activity" Fitch offers many excellent clubs and organizations that will provide that. If you want to be a competitor, golf is the place for you. Going into the try-outs and season you will experience a competitive situation every time we are together. I have full confidence that you will rise to the challenge and this will be a succuessful season. Good luck to all of you.

After our off-season open practices it is time to put the team together. This week's try-outs will determine who and how many boys will be part of the 2010 AFHS Boy's Golf Team. I wish each of you the best of luck and commit to you that everyone will be given a fair opportunity to prove your worth.
ALL try-out dates and scores will be the major determinant as to your position on the team. I have scheduled for mornings in order to give you the afternoons off to work on your game, relax, etc. These mandatory try-out sessions will show to me who is truly committed to compete for a position. I have scheduled four sessions in order to give everyone a good shot at showing his skill level. Having multiple sessions, rather than one try-out date, allows you every opportunity to make up for an "off" day (which all golfers have from time to time).

Try-outs are
Monday Aug. 2 8:30 at Deer Creek
Wednesday Aug. 4 8:30 at Deer Creek
Thursday Aug. 5 8:30 at Mill Creek Par 3
Friday Aug. 6 8:30 at Deer Creek

NOTE: There is a dress code for trying out and for matches and practices during the season. Traditionally golf has prided itself as a gentleman's (and gentle lady's) sport and nothing less is expected, even in today's "anything goes" world. I expect you to dress like a gentleman and act like a gentleman at all times when you are representing Fitch and me.
No blue jeans, pants with holes, cut-off pants
No Tee shirts
No apparel with "questionable" writing.
Hats must be worn with the brim in the front
Pants must be at or near "belly button level"
Any other dress that I deem inappropriate I will let you know and I have final say-so

After Friday's try-outs I will announce the boys that will travel to the Diamondback tournament on Monday August 9 (we are allowed to bring 5 boys)

The first match after the tournament will be Wednesday August 11 against Columbiana at 8:30 at Deer Creek. For matches I will bring up to 12 players.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FOR PARENTS
Tuesday August 3 there is a state-mandated meeting for parents of athletes in all sports. It is 6:30 in the high school auditorium. At this session we will go through all the logistics, paperwork, team selection criteria, etc. that apply to your son. I will also have any needed paperwork that you may have not yet turned in. You will be given a full overview of the program, my coaching philosophy, what I expect from your sons, what you can expect from me, etc. I look forward to meeting with you at that time.

Remember - Season officially starts August 2 with the first tryout. Make sure you are doing what it takes to be ready. We want winners! Winner pay the price!

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT !! PHYSICALS !!
YOU MUST HAVE PHYSICAL PAPERWORK AND EMERGENCY MEDICAL AUTHORIZATION FORM IN COACH'S HANDS BY AUGUST 2ND OR YOU CANNOT BE A PART OF THE PROGRAM.
