Two Fitch Track & Field athletes received Federal League Track & Field Athlete of the Year honors. For the girls team, junior thrower Ali Tolich won the award after winning both the Shot Put in 41'3 1/2" and the Discus with a school record-tying throw of 160'2" at the league championship meet on Friday, May 14th at Uniontown Lake High School. Te'John Lawrence, a senior sprinter on the boys team, also received athlete of the year honors after winning the 100m in 10.91, the 200m in 22.19 and anchored the first place and school record breaking 4x200m relay team. Two other Falcons took home first place finishes as George Thomas won the shot put in 53'8 1/2" and the discus with a Federal League meet record throw of 177'2". Jen Shiley won the 300 hurdles in 45.52.

May 1, 2010 - Optimist Invitational
Fitch 6th at 43.5
Two members of the Fitch boys & girls track and field teams broke school records at the Optimist Track & Field meet at Austintown Fitch High School on Saturday, May 1st. Te'John Lawrence's time of 21.76 in the 200m dash broke the school record set by Davanzo Tate in 2002. His record-breaking time boosted him to #7 in the state of Ohio rankings in the event. Also breaking a school record for the Falcons was Jen Shiley in the 300m hurdles. Shiley's time of 45.42 broke the school record set by Ashlee Case in 1996. She is now ranked #10 in the state in the event. Also faring well for the Falcons was Ali Tolich, winning both the shot put and the discus. Tolich won the shot put with a throw of 42'3" and is ranked #3 in the state in the event. Her toss of 154'8" in the discus is the top throw in the state thus far this season. Tolich Wins Two Indoor State Track Titles!
The Lady Falcons took 6th place at the OATCCC Indoor State Track & Field Championships on March 20, 2010. Ali Tolich won two titles (Shot Put 42'6" & Weight Throw 49'11). Makayla Martin placed 4th in the High Jump (5'6") and Jen Shiley finished 8th overal in the 400m (59.56). Congratulations!

March 12/13, 2010
On March 12th, Ali Tolich competed in the Nike Indoor Nationals in Boston MA. She placed 6th in the 20 pound weight throws with a toss of 49'3". Ali earned All-American honors by placing top six and making the awards stand. On March 13th, she placed eighth in the shot put with a 39'1.25" effort. She was just shy of making the podium in the shot put. She now prepares for the OATCCC Indoor State Championships on March 20th. She is ranked number one in division one in both events. We would also like to thank everyone who helped her make it to Boston (Knightline Embroidery, Austintown Rotory, Fitch Track Booster Club, and numerous individual supporters).

March 6/7, 2010
The Austintown Fitch Boys & Girls Track & Field teams competed in the indoor track meets at Kent State University on Saturday and Sunday, March 6th and 7th. For the girls team, Ali Tolich won the weight throw with a toss of 50'3" and the shot put with a throw of 41'4". She is currently ranked #1 in the state in both events and #10 in the nation in the weight throw. She will be competing in the Nike Indoor Nationals in Boston, MA this weekend. MaKayla Martin placed 4th in the high jump in 5'4" and is currently ranked 3rd in the state in the event. For the boys team, George Thomas placed 2nd in the weight throw with a toss of 59'0" and is currently ranked 2nd in the state in the event. Te'John Lawrence placed 5th in the 60m dash in 7.03 and 5th in the 200m dash in 22.71. He is currently ranked 10th in the state in the 200m and 11th in the 60m. Jay Jakovina placed 6th in the high jump in 6'1" and is currently ranked 15th in the state in the event. Thomas, Lawrence, Jakovina, Andy Cercone, Jen Shiley, the boys 4x400m relay, and the girls 4x200m and 4x400m relay teams will be competing in Geneva, OH this weekend at the American Scholastic Indoor National Championships.

February 21, 2010
The Austintown Fitch Boys & Girls Track & Field teams competed in the Kent State High School indoor track meet on Sunday, February 21st. For the boys team, Te'John Lawrence placed 1st in the 60m dash with a time of 7.12. Andy Cercone placed second in the same event in 7.23. George Thomas took second in the weight throw with a toss of 64'10.5". Te'John Lawrence also placed 5th in the 400m dash with a time of 52.70. For the girls team, Ali Tolich placed second in the Weight Throw with a toss of 48'5". She is currently ranked #1 in the state in the event. MaKayla Martin placed second in the high jump in 5'3". She is currently ranked #2 in the state in the event. Paige Henley placed 8th in the same event with a jump of 4'10". Jen Shiley placed 8th in the 400m dash in 1:02.3. In the 60m hurdles, Fayosha Ross placed 4th in 10.31 and Brooke Henry was 8th in 10.81. The 4x200m relay team of Theresa Scott, Jen Shiley, Kaity Shiley and Jenna Yacovone placed 5th in a time of 1:53.5. The 4x400m relay team of Jen Shiley, Taylor Entzi, Kaity Shiley and Jenna Yacovone also placed 5th overall with a time of 4:26.6.

January 23, 2010
The Austintown Fitch Boys & Girls Track & Field teams competed in the indoor track meet at Kent State University on Saturday, January 23rd. Ali Tolich won the Weight Throw with a toss of 48'10", which set a Kent State Field House record, put her at 1st in the division 1 state rankings, and moved her to sixth in the U.S. Indoor Track & Field High School Rankings. George Thomas placed second in the weight throw with a toss of 61'4". He is currently ranked 3rd in the state in division 1 and seventh in the U.S. Rankings. Te'John Lawrence placed 5th in the 60m dash with a time of 7.24, which puts him at 8th in the state rankings. Andy Cercone placed 10th in the same event with a time of 7.31, and is currently ranked 14th overall in the state. MaKayla Martin placed second in the high jump in 5'5", which puts her atop the division 1 state rankings and 25th nationally. Jay Jakovina placed fourth in the high jump in 6'0". He is currently ninth in the state rankings.

January 18, 2010 - Jerome Fields Indoor Meet at University of Akron
Ali Tolich 1st 20lb weight throw at 46'7" this mark ranks first in ohio and fifth in the U.S. She also got 2nd in the shot at 37'6". Makayla Martin 3rd in the High Jump 5'2".

The Fitch Girls Track & Field team placed second at the Mahoning County Championships on Saturday, April 18th. Leading the way for the Falcons was the Mahoning County MVP award winner Jen Shiley, who took 1st place in four events. She won the 200m dash in a time of 26.69, the 400m dash in 1:01.24 and anchored the 1st place 4x200m and 4x400m relay teams. Also placing first for the Falcons were Ali Tolich in the Shot Put with a throw of 35'8" and MaKayla Martin in the High Jump with a jump of 5'4".
